A Note from Sleeping At Last…

Things have been incredibly busy as always around here in the Sleeping At Last HQ… A plethora of announcements/exciting things to tell you about (more on all of that soon!) Today, however, we wanted to share with you some bittersweet news about a change-up within Sleeping At Last that was made this past April.

On this subject, Dan would like to share a few words:

For over a decade now, I have had the amazing opportunity to be a member of Sleeping At Last. I joined the band in high school and over the years have had so many amazing experiences: traveling and performing all over the country, getting to record music that I’m extremely proud of and getting to meet and work with a lot of amazing people that I truly admire, just to name a few. Through all of this, Sleeping At Last has become more to me than just a band that I play in, but it has truly become a second family to me. A family that I am sincerely honored to be a part of. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I would not be the person I am today and have the amazing life that I have without my Sleeping At Last family.

With that said, after much thought and soul searching I have decided to step down as a member of Sleeping At Last. It was a very difficult decision, made all the more difficult by how much I love my Sleeping At Last family. It’s hard to give you a specific reason. It’s just something that has been on my mind for a while now and it just felt like it was the right thing for me to do. This is the end of a big chapter in my life, but only my professional life. The relationships I’ve made in this band are some of the most important in my life, and those will remain unchanged. I plan to continue to contribute musically to both “Yearbook” and any future projects in any way that I have the privilege to. And make no mistake, Sleeping At Last will continue. Ryan is one of the most amazing and talented songwriters and musicians out there and his music will continue to be amazing no matter who he is creating it with. I am honored to be able to continue to be a part of this music and I am also very excited to see what new adventures the next chapter of my life may bring. I would like to also thank all of you, the listeners, from the bottom of my heart. You are the ones who have made this amazing experience possible. Whether I met you at a show, or you sent me an email or if you just enjoyed our music, THANK YOU! Your encouragement and support has been truly humbling and something I will never forget. In closing:

My gratitude to Dan for the past decade (and then some) of making music together far exceeds the length of an email like this. Not only is he one of my dearest friends, the best man at my wedding, and very much my brother, he is an overwhelmingly exceptional musician. In fact, he is my favorite bass player of all time. Literally! Although he will no longer be a member of Sleeping At Last, I do look forward to many more years of playing music together and I am so excited to see where his new non-music ventures take him!

What does this mean for the future of Sleeping At Last? Although Dan has played a very special role in Sleeping At Last’s history, I will continue to write my heart out under the name “Sleeping At Last.” So, the future of the band will be a mixture of everything you already know and have so kindly supported, along with many, many new and exciting chapters ahead! “Yearbook” is continuing right along, (speaking of which, I’m so excited for you to hear the upcoming “June” EP!) many tours lie ahead and much, much more.

Thank you so much for being a part of this, guys! I am blessed to write songs that you continue to allow into your lives. I can’t thank each of you enough. And once more, thank you so much to Dan, for the truly incredible years!! So privileged and blessed to call you my friend, and my brother.
