I’m not sure how we’ve been doing this blog for this long and have yet to cover this topic. I’m talking about “The Room”, an independent movie that has gained the reputation of being the best worst movie of all time. If that doesn’t make sense, wait until you watch some of these clips. It’s so bad that it’s come back around to amazing again. It’s become so famous that they actually have special screenings of it all over the country where people shout quotes along with the movie. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything that is so funny, so unintentionally. On our past couple tours, quotes from this movie were in constant rotation. What’s your favorite terrible movie?
If you read the blog you’ve probably noticed that Ryan is quite the iPhone fan. What you might not know is that up until a few weeks ago, I was the owner of the crummyest and cheapest (free) phone you can find. It’s not that I had anything against iPhones it’s just I didn’t think I needed one. Now that I’ve had one for a few weeks, I can’t really say I “need” one, but I love it. One of my favorite things about it is the camera. They say the best camera is the one you have with you, and with the iphone you always have it with you. My Wife and I have become addicted to finding cool new photo apps. One of the best sources we’ve found is a site called iPhoneography. It’s a blog dedicated completely to photography with the iPhone. Here are some photos I took this weekend with an app called Camera+.
We had a great day here at the lake yesterday. After our flood ordeal early in the morning it was so nice to just hang out and relax with family. The best part was after dinner, as the sun was going down, we noticed the sky looked strange. So we went outside to check it out. It was the wierdest thing, everything was orange. It felt like something was wrong with your eyes, or you had sunglasses on. I’ve never seen anything like it. Here are some pictures. It doesn’t quite capture how awesome it was but keep in mind these pictures are completely unedited straight from the iPhone camera.
Wow! We sure had some rain here in wheaton overnight. It started raining hard last night and didn’t stop until this morning. It was some of the loudest rain I’ve ever heard and it kept up that pace most of the time. My wife and I were heading to her parents place in Michigan and ran into some flooding that backed up traffic for almost three hours. It looked like this.
But we made it here eventually and are enjoying some time by the lake in the sun. Did anybody else have to deal with any flooding? Love Dan
it’s been a flurry of activity around here, in preparation for YEARBOOK! we’re so excited, but we’re realizing now more than ever that this project will most certainly keep us very busy for it’s entire one year span. holy smokes. but what better way to be busy? we feel very fortunate and privileged to have the opportunity to dive so deeply into what we love most – music. so, being busy feels great.
yesterday dan and i made a little progress on what appears to be our happiest sounding song ever! it doesn’t have a title just yet, but we’re excited about it. it’s real sunshiny. not sure why writing happy songs is so tough for us, but we finally did it! not that our other songs are sad, or unhappy… they’re just very serious. writing a lighthearted song is a challenge for us for some reason… but this song has been a welcome change and is turning into a lot of fun to work on. and so far, it’s not even giving us any trouble! it’s being quite kind to us so far. it’s got some foot-stompin’, strumstick, strings and lots o’ fun in it. can’t wait to show you. and we’ve already got a few ideas of some possible special guests sing on it with me. we’re going to let the song progress a bit more before we send out any invitations, but we’re real excited.
well, i hope your week is coming to a beautiful rest and that your weekend is wonderful. thanks for reading!
p.s. in an effort to make this post less texty… here’s a trailer for an xbox game that looks quite lovely! i mean it… it’s a beautiful looking game! don’t believe me? check it out… it’s called “limbo” and if i had more time lately, i’d be playing it right now:
